On October 10, 2019, UPLB celebrated its 101st Loyalty Day. With the theme of “Patuloy na tumutugon sa hamon ng bayan”, various of activities ranging from Makiling hike, Alumni Sportsfest and Trade Exhibits, to name a few were held. And consistent with every Loyalty Day celebration, awards were given to the distinguished alumni of UPLB. Among these were the UPLB AA Presidential Award, Nelia T. Gonzales Service Award, Outstanding Golden Jubilarians, Outstanding UPLB Alumni, and Distinguished Alumni of Colleges and Schools.
Among the twelve Outstanding UPLB Alumni Award, three were graduates of the Institute. These were Dr. Avelex S. Amor (BS Zoo ’96) – Posthumous award for Public Health, Dr. Juan Carlos T. Gonzalez (BS Zoo ’92, MS ’97) for Education, Research, and Training and Mr. Maynoll D. Montalbo (BS BIO ’99) for Health and Wellness.
While half of the four Distinguished Alumni of the College of Arts and Sciences were also from the Institute, namely Hon. Dahlia A. Ambayec-Loyola (BS Zoo ’82) for Good Governance and Public Service and Dr. Kerry Phil L. Bautista (BS Zoo ’98) for Administration of Health Services.
